Kazakh President names new KISI director, appoints former head as Afghanistan envoy

ASTANA. June 16 (Interfax-Kazakhstan) – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has reshuffled key analytical posts, appointing Zhandos Shaimardanov as director of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies (KISI) while assigning former director Yerkin Tukumov as special representative for Afghanistan, the presidential office announced Monday.
